Cultivating the imagination is the foundation of a good childhood and the gateway to a long life connected to the intellectual realm. The tales written by Andersen, in particular, possess a certain sweetness (which he masterfully blended with the grotesque settings of European folklore) allowing one to connect with his narratives in different ways at any stage of life.

He is currently one of my favorite poets. Casimiro de Abreu possesses all of Byron’s quality, yet with an approach that is more innocent and—I dare say—more dignified. His work is an ode to divinization.

Bible (jewish canon)
Whether you are a Christian or not, it is essential reading. I would recommend starting with the Gospel of John and Romans, followed by the wisdom books (Song of Songs, Proverbs, Psalms) for deeper reflection. Time and again, for better or worse, the West has turned to the Bible to launch movements and civilizations, establish laws, and shape the social order. While I have my own views on the methods used to do so, I believe that reading it with humility, casting aside preconceptions and baggage associated with specific denominations, will give you a new perspective on life.
